The Skin: a triple barrier of protection, inside and out…
Everybody knows that minor cuts and abrasions will usually heal themselves after a few days; but our skins ability to rapidly heal can give one a false sense of security… we tend to think that the skin is a tough protective layer that will simply fix itself whenever things get a little rough.
However, our skin is actually a highly sensitive organ that requiresa lifetime of special care and attention so it can continue to do it's job properly.
Skin is made up of three protective layers (epidermis, dermis, and subcutis) that protect our internal organs from infection, disease and injury.
Over time, internal changes, and environmental influences can lead to visible and measurable damage. If these signs are ignored, permanent damage can result and our protective barrier will start to break down.
Normal, healthy skin
Healthy, elastic skin is full of moisture (water or urea) that is stored in the epidermal cells. Lipids bind these cells together like a masonary wall… the cells are like the bricks and the lipids act like the mortar.
Dry, unhealthy skin
A prolonged, increased loss of these important building materials, or diminished new production, will cause the bricks to become porous and the mortar brittle. The wall looses its stability. If the skin's epidermis becomes weak, then its protective function begins to fail.
On the feet this can lead to serious infections and skin conditions. Regular skin care of the feet with urea-containing products can help prevent this kind of damage.
Preventative care
Regular care is the key to healthy skin. Our skin is one of the most important organs; it protects us from infection and disease. People with dry, sensitive and/or damaged skin. especially on feet, need to consider extra protectionto prevent minor irritations from becoming bigger problems.
Gloves and salves may help keep irritants from coming into contact with the skin, but they can interfere with dexterity and our sense of touch (and they may also cause problems, for example: the prolonged use of latex gloves can cause skin allergies). Most protective creams and salves are rich with oils and can be greasy and hard to absorb.
Dry skin needs to be replenished with moisture that can be absorbed, and skin needs to "breath" in order to function properly. Products that protect skin by creating a "seal" against external elements do not allow enough moisture to be absorbed and inhibit the skin's ability to "breath".
Moisture in the form of urea has proven to be effective for the care of dry skin. Urea containing cream foams absorb easily without leaving a greasy residue, whilew providing the best skin care for feet.
Cream foam with Urea
Scientific studies show that the supply of moisture in the form of urea is very helpful for dry skin and urea-containing cream foams have proven to be especially effective. More and more skin care professionals are recommending Allpresan® Cream Foams with UREA to their patients/customers.
Urea increases the water content of the epidermis and helps stabilize the barrier function of the skin. Urea has a soothing effect on dry and itchy skin, it loosens keratin and accelerates exfoliation. Urtea is also non-allergenic, synthetic, and can be applied in concentrations of 5-15% on a long term basis. Cream foam applications make it easy for the skin to absorb urea.
Allpresan® Cream Foam with Urea is smooth and silky, and absorbs immediatly without leaving a greasy film on the skin. Garments can be worn immediately after application—no need to worry about stains or fingerprints.
Allpresan® Cream Foam is a patented technology that moisturizes dry skin while allowing the skin to "breath".
